Facial masculinization surgery is a type of cosmetic surgery that changes the shape of the face to make it more masculine. Facial masculinization surgery can include brow bone reduction, cheek augmentation, jaw angle surgery, chin filler, and lip reduction.
Brow Bone Reduction
Brow bone reduction, also called brow bossing reduction or brow contouring, is a surgery that reduces the prominence and thickness of your brow bones. The surgery can also “open up” your eyes by removing excess skin that has formed over time.
Cheek Augmentation
Cheek augmentation can achieve a more masculine jawline by adding volume to the cheeks. The procedure can be performed in two ways:
• Cheek reduction involves removing fat and excess skin from the cheek area. It often results in a flat, square-shaped face.
• Cheek augmentation involves injecting fat into the lower part of your face, which can make your cheeks appear fuller. This method has less risk than cheek reduction but may require several visits to achieve optimal results.
Jaw Angle Surgery
Jaw angle surgery is used to reduce the angle of your jaw. It can be done alone or combined with other facial masculinization procedures.
This procedure is often done to make you look more masculine and square-jawed, but it can also help correct an overbite or underbite.
Chin Filler
Chin augmentation is a surgical procedure that adds volume to the chin through a bone graft or fat transfer. Bone grafts are made from cadaver bone and placed beneath the mandible using screws or plates to hold them until they heal. Fat transfer involves taking fat from one area of your body, such as your stomach or thighs, and transferring it into the chin area, where it will regenerate over time.
Lip Reduction
Lip reduction is a surgical procedure that reduces the size of the lips. It can also be used to improve the shape or position of your mouth.
Rhinoplasty
The nose can be reshaped in facial masculinization surgery to create a more masculine appearance. There are many ways to do this, from breaking the bridge of the nose and lowering the tip to making an internal cut that widens the nostrils.
