How do you get into shape? You work out, of course! However, we’re not talking about becoming physically fit. We are talking about spirit fitness. What is spirit fitness? It’s how much faith you have and how far you will allow that faith to carry you. Most people don’t understand this. When talking about physical fitness, what is the first thing that pops into someone’s head? Most people think of exercise. Why wouldn’t that same answer show up when you mention the word spirit, instead of physical? You need to work those muscles when you decide to begin a physical fitness program. The same is true when you want to start a spirit fitness program. Only those muscles aren’t seen, they are felt.
Faith Is What You Make It
Faith and spirit fitness go hand-in-hand, just like abs and sit-ups. To have faith, you must first exercise the fitness of your spirit. How do you do that? You start becoming a dreamer. You need to dream about what you want in life, where you want to be and who you wish to be. Once you have a clear vision, you need to take action. Just like how inaction has turned your six-pack into a keg, inaction of your goals has turned your spiritual fitness into fear. What you need to do is start moving toward goals. Nevermind that fear that creeps up and tells you, “you’ll never make it.” It is wrong. This is what builds faith. Set a goal and pursue it. The further you go on that path toward your goal, the more faith has to step in to keep you from your own doubts. This builds your spirit fitness, and dares you to dream more, to dream bigger!
To have spirit fitness, you must first want something. You have to work your way around the minefield of doubt and procrastination. When you want to accomplish something, you must have faith it can and will happen. You will become that amazing artist; you just have to pick up a paintbrush. You will become that witty writer; you just have to pick up a pencil. You will become what you want. You just have to want it enough to jump for it and know faith will catch you.
